You can't live without it. And especially in this time in our history we need hope as much as, and maybe even more than, anything else.
Because of the events of this past year people find themselves isolated, alienated, fearful, and angry. Hope for many seems to be in short supply.
So where do we find hope?
Hope is not found in either physical or material security. It's not found even in religion. Hope is found in Jesus Christ.
When Christ comes into a person's life hope comes alive. Now, he may not change the circumstances you find yourself in, but he will change you in the midst of those circumstances. And that's the most important thing.
This world will pass away and all its troubles with it. But when Christ comes into your life he gives you something that will last forever. He forgives your sins - forever. He gives you life in a wonderful home - forever. He gives you himself - forever. And you become his - forever.
We are broken, sinful creatures. We can't fix ourselves much less the world around us. But God in Jesus Christ has provided exactly what each of us needs. Now his call is for us to acknowledge our need and turn to him in repentance and faith. And no one who comes to him will be turned away.
And that's hope that will see you through - no matter what comes this year or any year to come.
